Shedeur Sanders is compared to LeBron James following the Browns game.

There’s been quite a buzz surrounding the Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, following his notable performance in his preseason debut. He completed 14 of 23 passes, tallying 138 yards and two touchdowns, which led Cleveland to a 30-10 victory. This impressive showing has sparked conversations among sports analysts about the possibility of him stepping into the starting quarterback role for the regular season.

In a bold comparison, ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins likened Sanders’ debut to LeBron James’ first game with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He remarked that for Sanders, it felt like a playoff atmosphere. This kind of hype is significant but perhaps a bit much, considering James came into the league with overwhelming expectations as the next Michael Jordan.

While James has since secured four championships, Sanders’ college track record with Colorado doesn’t quite match up in terms of accolades. Last season was impressive, with 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns, but making the NFL is a different ball game. He’s currently competing against teammates Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel for a position. Plus, Deshaun Watson is on injured reserve after his recent Achilles injury, which adds to the competition.

With a few weeks remaining for quarterbacks to secure their spots, the pressure is on for Sanders and his counterparts. This is the time when everyone, after all, is vying for a place on the roster, and every practice and game counts.
