Shedeur Sanders missed a production meeting during his time at Colorado.

New details are surfacing regarding why Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was picked in the fifth round of last week’s NFL Draft. College football analyst Ross Tucker discussed this on The Dan Patrick Show, mentioning that Sanders, at 23, had previously frustrated him by skipping a production meeting before a game between Colorado and Colorado.

Tucker recounted how Sanders was visibly absent from the meeting but ended up sitting behind a pickup truck afterward. “We didn’t really get an explanation for his absence,” Tucker noted. “Quarterbacks usually pay close attention, but this was a little different. We left the hotel, and there he was, behind a truck.”

Tucker expressed that when NFL personnel asked for his thoughts on Sanders after that game, he could only reply, “I couldn’t speak to him.” He reflected on Sanders’ behavior, suggesting it raised questions about how many other unconventional actions he might have taken that could’ve affected his standing with teams.

Tucker further pointed out that there were signs of nervousness regarding Sanders’ readiness for the NFL, especially given his college background. He noted that this was the second time Sanders had avoided a scheduled interview in the same week, coinciding with negative comments from several anonymous NFL sources leading up to the draft.

One source described Sanders’ interview as “the worst official interview I’ve ever had.” They criticized his tendency to take unnecessary risks, his unsatisfactory timing in plays, and his body language. The source added that he has a habit of placing blame on teammates, ultimately stating, “he’s not that good.”

Another AFC executive commented that their interview with Sanders didn’t go well either, highlighting his tendency to focus on his own agenda and make others feel inferior.
