Shedule Sanders Shines in NFL Starting Debut
Shedule Sanders was riding high after making his first start in the NFL during the Browns’ 24-10 victory over the Raiders this past Sunday.
“It feels great… after just a week of practice,” Sanders shared in a postgame talk with CBS Sports. “It’s just a week. So, can you imagine what a full offseason would do? It’d be something else. I’m feeling really thankful for how everything turned out.”
Before the game, a CBS reporter asked Sanders what Browns fans could anticipate from him.
“I’m exactly what they were looking for,” he responded confidently.
In his debut, Sanders threw for 209 yards and netted one touchdown, marking a notable improvement from his prior game.
Just last week, his first match was rough—completing only 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and tossing an interception in a 23-16 defeat against the Ravens. He had stepped in after Dillon Gabriel dealt with a concussion.
The Browns, now sitting at 3-8, managed to snap a three-game losing streak, with Gabriel still on concussion protocols, as Sanders led the way, being a fifth-round pick from Colorado State.
After the game, Sanders was spotted chatting with his father, Deion Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and coach at Colorado.
“Honestly, nobody cares that this is just a week of preparation. Many are just waiting for me to stumble… but that’s not going to happen,” he asserted during his post-game remarks.
As for the Browns’ head coach, Kevin Stefanski, he wasn’t ready to declare Sanders the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against San Francisco.
“I won’t get into specifics,” Stefanski stated. “I’m proud of him and proud of our offense. There’s still a learning curve, but today we’re focused on what we achieved.”
Defensively, the Browns were a force, as veteran defensive end Myles Garrett notched three of the team’s ten sacks against the Raiders.
