Sheikh Mohamed: UAE Plans to Invest $1.4T in the U.S. During the Next Ten Years After Meeting with Trump

UAE President Announces $1.4 Trillion Investment in the US

On May 15, 2025, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan revealed plans for a substantial investment of $1.4 trillion in the United States over the next ten years.

As the ruler of Abu Dhabi, the largest emirate in the UAE, he framed this initiative as a demonstration of the robust partnership between President Donald Trump and the U.S. leadership.

“The UAE’s plan to invest $1.4 trillion in the US over the next decade exemplifies the strength of our strategic relationship,” the President remarked. His comments came during the last leg of President Trump’s four-day tour of the Gulf region, which resulted in numerous business and defense agreements with various countries.

Earlier in the day, President Trump made an appearance at Al Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar, which is the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East. While addressing the troops there, he shared that Qatar has plans to invest $10 billion to enhance its military facilities in the years ahead.

Trump also confirmed that on Wednesday, Qatar finalized a $42 billion defense procurement contract.

Throughout his Middle East tour, substantial business pledges were secured, including a commitment from Saudi Arabia to invest $600 billion in the U.S., alongside an agreement from Qatar Airways to purchase up to 210 Boeing Widebody aircraft.

Amid efforts to establish itself as a central hub for artificial intelligence, the UAE has reached a preliminary agreement to annually import 500,000 of Nvidia’s advanced AI chips starting this year. These chips are critical for supporting the UAE’s ambitious data center goals.

However, the prospective agreement has raised some “security concerns” within segments of the U.S. government, mainly related to potential shifts in technology. Some transactions might be subject to alterations, according to officials who requested anonymity.

During his visit, President Trump received a warm reception, which included a state dinner at the Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. He was honored with the Zayed Order, the highest civilian award in the UAE, acknowledging his efforts to strengthen relations between the two nations.

In a notable gesture, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was closed to the public for the first time to facilitate Trump’s visit. Additionally, the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, was lit up in red, white, and blue to welcome him.
