Monmouth County, New Jersey, Sheriff Sean Golden wants federal authorities to get to the bottom of recent mysterious drone activity in his state.
Golden and other local officials are calling on Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy to declare a state of emergency.
“We continue to urge the governor to put pressure on the federal government to commit more resources,” Golden said Thursday on NewsNation.Dan Abrams live. ”
“The only way to solve this problem is for the federal government to come here and do a thorough investigation into what these are and how they operate,” he added. .
The White House insists drones are not a threat. The Pentagon also said it does not currently believe a foreign enemy is behind the mysterious drone over New Jersey.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R.N.J.) claimed that the drones were launched by an Iranian “mother ship,” but Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said at a briefing, “There is absolutely no truth to that. No,” he said.
With the investigation ongoing, Golden asked the governor to declare a state of emergency and issue an executive order banning the night-time use of recreational drones.
