Texas sheriff sat together Glenbeck And we discussed the “swatting” phenomenon that recently terrified conservative influencers and their families in their own homes.
It occurs when a person mistakenly reports an ongoing crime, or misrepresents a crime committed at someone else's home or business location, or persuades officers to compete for locations and put the lives of officers and people in the building at immediate risk.
“This could have been horribly wrong.”
Over the past few weeks, conservative influencers, including comedian Sean Farash, have allegedly been victims of the scheme, Juanita Broadrick, a victim of Bill Clinton rape, and Matt von Swal, advocate for those affected by Hurricane Helen.
Von Swol posted a police door cam footage of a police officer who arrived at his home in the middle of the night on Sunday. Thankfully, many people were scared, but none of them were physically harmed.
“If this is your home and you, look at how this was horribly wrong and understand,” wrote Von Suul.
“This is no joke. It's a domestic terrorist attack.”
Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, apparently agreed on Friday episode of the Glenbeck Program in Tarrant County, Texas, saying, “This is a terrorist attack and those making these calls should go to jail for a very, very long time.”
Sheriff Wayborn, who protects the county where Beck and his family live, shares horrifying details about the swatting-related calls coming to his department. For one thing, he said attacks have become quite common in Tarrant County recently.
“In this area, there were probably 15 or 16 cases last year,” he told the shocked Beck.
“It's all happening through the gaming system.”
Additionally, at least some of the calls have not occurred in Tarrant County, Texas, or even in the United States.
Beck then warned that the online gaming system could also become a Trojan horse, giving swatters and other predators a practical means of entering the home, and perhaps there to collect personal information about the residents. He even shared that his son was “groomed” by a “pedophile” through the young man's gaming system.
“We're lucky we learned about it and the FBI entered the house,” Beck insisted. “They adopted a gaming system and said, 'It's all happening through the gaming system.' ”
Waybourn assured Beck and his listeners that law enforcement was well aware of the swatting scheme, but he noted that officers still had to prepare to investigate all reports.
“When they received these urgent calls, they had to respond. They were ready to go to law enforcement in case it was real,” Weyborn said.
Weyborn also argued that federal law enforcement is ready to indict people who make false reports that lead to swatting. Attorney General Pam Bondy said “I will definitely be on the committee to indict the federal government if possible,” Weyborn argued. “It's the temperament of who our Attorney General is.”
Homeland Security Secretary Christi Noem and FBI Director Kash Patel have already pledged to push the perpetrators down.
“This is an attack on our law enforcement agencies and our innocent families, and we prosecute it that way.” Posted on x on wednesday.
The conversation between Beck and Sheriff Weyborn can be seen in the video below.
Officers responding to swatting calls are armed and often surprise homeowners who are not suspected of carrying firearms, pose a risk to officers and building residents. For this reason, Von Swol told Blaze News that anyone who starts Swatting by calling false crime reports has one main goal of “being killed” someone.
“Everyone who is blaming people is definitely trying to kill them,” Von Suul claimed. “If you read police memos from the incident, it is clear that the caller is trying to rush the police to a situation that is not realistic with serious force.”
