Five people were injured and two were killed in a shooting in Washington, D.C., early Sunday morning, police said.
Chief Jeffrey Carroll said in a news conference that Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue and P Street NW around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.This intersection is near the Kennedy Recreation Center in downtown Washington, DC
Carroll said all of the injured victims were adults and were taken to local hospitals.

Details about the shooting were limited, but police said the suspect was an average-sized black man wearing a blue shirt and light-colored pants.

Police said the suspect was last seen walking southbound on 7th Avenue.
