A US Navy warship on Friday shot down a barrage of Houthi terrorist cruise missiles and drones fired from Yemen in the Red Sea passage.
The Pentagon confirmed the successful attack and response on Friday.
“We actually witnessed a complex attack by the Houthis, ranging from cruise missiles to missiles. [unmanned aerial vehicles],” said Sabrina Singh, deputy spokeswoman for the Pentagon.

The Bab al-Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden between Yemen.
“My understanding is that they were either engaged and shot down, or they failed,” Singh said, referring to Houthi missiles and drones. She also said that there were no attacks on U.S. warships and that no U.S. military personnel were injured, completely rejecting the claims.
USS abraham lincoln and its carrier strike group are in the area.
The attack group includes three destroyers: USS spruanceU.S.S. stockdaleU.S.S. O'Kane.
Singh declined on Friday to say whether the destroyer was the intended target of the Houthi missiles.
“We did what we had to do to protect our troops and in the end, the ship was not attacked, there was no damage and no personnel were injured,” she said.
The Houthis have targeted cargo ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since October 7 last year, when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel.
Earlier this year, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced Operation Prosperity Guardian, a multinational mission to counter Houthi attacks.
