Silver Mocks Swalwell for Claiming Trump Got ‘Smoked’ in IA

Eric Swalwell, statistician Nate Silver claims the California Democrat was “smoked” after former President Donald Trump won more than 50 percent of the vote in the Iowa Republican caucus. He mocked a member of the House of Representatives (Democrat, California) as suffering from “copium.”

Swalwell posted on X:

President Trump was smoked in Iowa last night. Follow @SimonWDC for more information. Bottom line: My suburban hometown is home to more people than voted for Trump last night (just over 50,000 people). And almost half of voters voted against him. Show me the headlines if this happens to Biden.

Silver replied to Swalwell mockingly.

“Mr. Trump won by 30 points. What are we doing here? Folks, we have 10 months left. If we continue to consume it at this rate, the supply of copium will become dangerously low. Of course!”

Mr. Trump overwhelmed his competitors in Iowa, winning by the largest margin since 1976.

as bloomberg news reportTrump's victory in Iowa was “commanding.”

Donald Trump tightened his grip on the Republican presidential nomination and moved one step closer to returning to the White House after Iowa voters handed him victory in Monday's caucuses.

Voters braved subzero temperatures to give Trump a resounding victory, leaving little chance that his archrivals Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley would successfully challenge the former president's lead.

Mr. Swalwell did not respond to Mr. Silver.
