Simone Biles and Riley Gaines conflict prompts response from former NASCAR driver

Danica Patrick Weighs In on Simone Biles and Riley Gaines Feud

Danica Patrick, a former NASCAR Cup Series driver, recently shared her thoughts after Simone Biles made a personal jab at fellow athlete Riley Gaines on social media.

It all started when Biles criticized Gaines, following a post where Gaines condemned a Minnesota High School softball official for disabling comments under a celebratory post involving a transgender girl pitcher who helped her team win a state championship.

On Instagram, Patrick expressed her hope that “common sense will win.” She further emphasized her appreciation for individuals like Gaines, who “actually lived it,” implying the importance of personal experience in discussions about the issue.

Patrick noted that advocating for male competitors in women’s sports is an issue that calls for contemplation, claiming it seems “very irrational.”

The social media exchange took a sharp turn when Biles targeted Gaines directly. In her post, Biles accused Gaines of being “sick” and suggested that her campaign was rooted in losing a race, saying, “you bully them… one thing is certainly not that no one in the sport is safe with you!”

Gaines didn’t hold back in her response, expressing disappointment and questioning if Biles was defending male athletes at the expense of female athletes’ futures. She remarked, “I didn’t have that on my bingo card.”

In a light-hearted jab, she added, “Maybe she could compete in the ring with Pommel horses in 2028.”

This back-and-forth highlights the ongoing complexities and tensions surrounding transgender athletes’ participation in women’s sports, sparking further debate among athletes and commentators alike.
