Simone Biles on Embracing Self-Love Through Surgery

Simone Biles, the 11-time Olympic medalist, recently opened up about her decision to get breast implants, a move she describes as an act of self-love. She feels it’s crucial to be open about her experiences so that others, particularly young girls, can relate and understand their own feelings.

Biles, 28, acknowledged the noticeable change, clarifying that her choice wasn’t driven by dissatisfaction with her appearance prior to the surgery. “It’s about feeling good about yourself and loving yourself,” she explained, emphasizing her ongoing commitment to self-acceptance.

Last month, she shared some insights on TikTok, revealing that she’s had three plastic surgeries. She mentioned, “You’ll never know about two of them,” hinting at the privacy surrounding her decisions. In addition to her breast surgery, she had lower blepharoplasty to address baggy lower eyelids and excess upper eyelid skin, a result of genetics.

Biles also referenced an earlobe surgery from childhood, where an earring accident resulted in damage. Although she didn’t specify when she had the surgeries, she reflected on the perception of her Olympic victories, noting that personal feelings and experiences are what truly resonate.

She remarked that understanding oneself and embracing personal journeys is vital, which is why she chose to be transparent about her surgeries. Biles humorously labeled her eyelids as “bilious” due to her family’s genetic predisposition to blepharoptosis, revealing her desire to correct this long-standing concern.

In a broader message aimed at younger audiences, Biles stressed that social media often doesn’t reflect reality. She hopes to encourage young girls to make choices that resonate with them without any feelings of shame. “Social media is not real,” she stated, underscoring her intention to share her story, including her experience with Botox, which she admitted didn’t go as planned.

Ultimately, Biles concluded that self-love and acceptance are what matter most, encouraging everyone to embrace their unique journeys, regardless of societal pressures. “As long as you love yourself, that’s all that really matters,” she shared, reinforcing her commitment to authenticity.
