Sinaloa Cartel Gunmen Pack Bodies in Van as Hundreds Killed, Taken Amid Turf War

The powerlessness of Mexico's military has become clear as armed groups from the Sinaloa Cartel continue to wage a fierce turf war, resulting in approximately 100 murders and 170 abductions. In the latest show of force, gunmen left a van full of bodies with the message “Welcome to Culiacan” written on the side.

Over the weekend, cartel gunmen parked a white van loaded with bodies in Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa state. All the bodies in the van were wrapped in garbage bags and showed signs of torture. All of the bodies in the van were wearing tactical gear, according to information provided to Breitbart Texas by Mexican federal law enforcement officials. They showed execution-style gunshot wounds to the head. There were various other gunshot wounds on some of the bodies, indicating that the victims had participated in a gunfight.

The gruesome crime scene occurred as a turf war between the Chapitos and Mayos factions of the Sinaloa cartel entered its third week since it began on September 9. According to official government statistics, there have been 98 murders as of Friday. There have been 198 abductions in Sinaloa since the fighting began. However, the real number is believed to be much higher, as the Mexican government is trying to minimize violence and is believed to be undercounting the number of incidents.

Outgoing Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has repeatedly accused his political opponents of being in bed with drug cartels and blamed the violence on the U.S. government, which arrested Zambada.
