Gold’s Gym Membership Revoked After Confrontation
A well-known singer-songwriter claims she was kicked out of Gold’s Gym in Los Angeles following a heated exchange with a person she accused of entering the women’s locker room.
Tish Hyman, 42, originally from the Bronx, stated that her gym membership was terminated on Sunday after the incident.
In a brief video she filmed, Hyman confronted an unidentified individual dressed in black, who was apparently causing a stir in the locker room.
The man, who was also speaking loudly about his identity, faced Hyman’s frustrations head-on. She asserted, “Now he knows how to be a man, right? Now he knows how to be a man. Stay out of the women’s locker room! We don’t want that. He needs to have his gym membership revoked for that!”
Despite her requests for staff to check if any video footage existed of the situation, she was informed that it had been deleted. What exactly that video showed isn’t clear.
Throughout the interaction, Hyman addressed prior complaints made against this person regarding his behavior in the locker room.
“We already filed a report. No, no, no! You can’t kick me out for something like this! I’m a woman, and I have the right not to want men in the bathroom when I’m naked! There’s a naked girl in there!” she shouted.
Interestingly, the individual returned to the women’s area without a second thought, prompting Hyman to exclaim, “Look at him coming in there like ok, not ok!”
Shortly after, Hyman was asked to move to the front of the gym, where she claims her membership was revoked.
In an Instagram update, she mentioned that she and other women had filed “multiple written reports regarding this man who came into the women’s locker room and harassed us.”
A separate video showed Hyman appearing to lunge at gym staff just before she was escorted out.
“Men! There’s an adult with a big penis in the girls’ locker room! That’s why I’m being kicked out. I want the girls to know!” she expressed passionately.
“What the hell? Everyone saw that guy in the locker room, and no one said no!…I’m the one who gets kicked out of the gym for getting naked in front of a guy without his permission!” she said, pacing between her desk and a nearby training area.
Hyman made a call for gyms to implement “trans toilets” and criticized the staff for not responding adequately, stating they “ignored” her pleas even after she “cried for help.”
“They removed him, but then they flipped around and terminated my membership as well, as if I was being punished for speaking out,” Hyman wrote to her 218,000 followers on Instagram.
She described the experience as frightening, mentioning that many other women in the gym felt relief that someone was finally voicing their concerns. “The men had to stand up to get him out,” she noted.
Hyman also mentioned that the gym had recently undergone renovations, urging the chain to consider adding “transgender restrooms” and encouraging others to “stand up” and “#BoycottGoldsGym.”
The gym, recently taken over by EōS Fitness, has yet to respond to inquiries related to Hyman’s allegations.
