Dave Matthews Critiques Trump’s Administration After Shooting Incident
Musician Dave Matthews recently expressed his outrage towards President Donald Trump and his administration following the death of Renee Goode, who was shot by an immigration officer in Minnesota. Matthews remarked that she was “killed in cold blood” and exclaimed, “fuck ICE.”
“I don’t want my tax dollars funding masked thugs who terrorize communities and separate families because of ICE,” he stated in a video shared on her birthday.
“We should prioritize caring for one another. We should provide shelter for the homeless; we shouldn’t be treating people this way,” Matthews added.
In his video message, the frontman of the Dave Matthews Band also criticized military operations in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro, as well as broader U.S. involvement in the Gaza war and ICE actions.
Matthews remarked, “I think of Renee Nicole Good, murdered in front of her fellow citizens in Minneapolis, murdered in the streets. Regardless of what narrative this administration pushes, we can see the video.”
He rejected the government’s assertion that ICE acted in self-defense, emphasizing that Goode was “killed in cold blood.”
“This is beyond comprehension and incredibly upsetting to me and countless others. We cannot let this persist,” he added.
Matthews also directed his frustration at various political figures, including Trump and Kristi Noem, stating they were “dishonest and despicable.” He expressed disappointment with the government’s approach to its neighbors, both nationally and internationally.
“Fuck you, ICE. If that language offends you, well… we all know that word. I hope you understand my intentions,” Matthews said. “I can’t stand these monsters in charge right now. Their greed and ingratitude are appalling.”
The singer shared his emotional response following the controversial shooting of Renee Good, who, at 37, was fatally shot after reportedly using her vehicle to disrupt an ICE operation.
In defense of the agents’ actions, DHS Secretary Noem claimed Good’s car was used as a weapon and posed a threat to federal agents. She labeled the incident as an “act of domestic terrorism” and asserted that it falls under federal jurisdiction, dismissing the notion that state or local authorities should investigate.
A DHS spokesperson revealed that attacks against ICE officials have risen sharply, increasing by 1,300 percent.
