Renee Rapp Criticizes ICE and Trump at Portland Concert
During a concert at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, actress and singer Renee Rapp expressed her frustration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and former President Donald Trump. Her passionate outburst, filled with expletives, resonated with the audience.
Sharing her thoughts on the recent ICE raids in the city, Rapp stated, “Let’s be clear: F-ICE, F-this administration, F-Trump.” The crowd responded with loud applause, indicating their support.
She noted, “We’re very, very, very excited to be here with you guys. You’re great people. And it just so happens that at the same time we’re here, there are people here who shouldn’t be here.”
Portland has seen ongoing clashes between protesters against ICE and police outside local facilities, creating a tense atmosphere in the city.
According to Camilla Wamsley, the director of ICE’s Portland office, protesters have disrupted operations for over 100 nights, with their tactics escalating recently to include projectiles and barricades aimed at blocking vehicles.
The Trump administration had even discussed deploying the National Guard to handle the disturbances. However, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut put a temporary stop to this plan, arguing it “risks blurring the lines between civilian and military powers.” Local leaders have echoed her sentiments, deeming the need for federal police excessive and the administration’s portrayal of Portland as “exaggerated.”
Musicians have been vocal against ICE beyond Rapp. Earlier this month, country artist Zach Bryan faced backlash for politically charged lyrics in his song “Bad News.” In response, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem criticized Bryan, claiming his song disrespected law enforcement and the nation.
Another country artist, Brian Andrews, made waves on TikTok denouncing ICE and the individuals who support aggressive actions against immigrant families. He remarked, “You can’t call yourself Christians and laugh when you see families being torn apart outside the courts.”
The Department of Homeland Security has not yet provided a statement regarding these incidents.
