After an impressive run at the box office for 45 days, the film “Sinner,” directed by Ryan Coogler, is now available for streaming at home.
Debuting on Good Friday, “Sinner” features Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers. One, Elijah “Smoke” Moore, returns to his Mississippi hometown after working for a criminal family in Chicago. The other brother, Elias “Stack” Moore, is deeply involved in a life of crime.
In an effort to turn things around, Smoke plans to open a juke joint that caters to the local Black community.
The film also includes notable performances from Miles Caton, Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, and Jack O’Connell.
Sinner Streaming Date:
“Sinner” is now available on demand on platforms including Prime Video, having been released digitally on June 3rd.
How to Watch Sinner on Prime Video:
You can buy “Sinner” digitally through Prime Video for $24.99 or rent it for $19.99. This is a far more economical choice compared to taking the whole family out to the theater.
A paid Amazon Prime membership isn’t necessary for purchasing or renting, but you’ll need a free Amazon account to access the film later.
Once you purchase the film, it will be visible in your account for multiple viewings, although rentals must be started within 30 days and are available for 48 hours after you press Play.
Does Sinner Have an IMAX Aspect Ratio Digitally?
Yes! One of the major talking points prior to its theatrical release was its innovative format, and thankfully, home viewers can experience the IMAX aspect as well.
Sinner is among the first films to blend two distinct cinematic formats. The final IMAX cut utilizes both IMAX 15-PERF and Ultra Panavision 70, enhancing the viewing experience by switching between aspect ratios.
In this digital version, viewers will notice shifts from 2.76:1 to 1.43:1 during the immersive IMAX segments. If that sounds a bit confusing, well, that’s the nature of film innovation. Fortunately, there’s a good resource to explain these various formats and films. Just remember, if you buy or pre-order a 4K Blu-ray, you’ll see the movie as the creators intended.
