Sister of Idaho Victim Tells Brian Kohberger She Would Have Confronted Him If She Had Been Aware

Victim’s Sister Addresses Killer in Court

On Wednesday, Kaycee Goncalves’ sister expressed her thoughts on Brian Kohberger, stating that he could have easily overpowered Goncalves if she had been asleep during the attack.

Kohberger accepted a plea deal on June 30 for the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin. In exchange for pleading guilty to four counts of first-degree murder, he avoided the death penalty. Alivea Stevenson addressed the court during a sentencing hearing in Boise, Idaho, sharing a statement about the impact of the crime on the victims.

“The most frightening thing about you is how painfully ordinary you are. Honestly, you seem as clueless as they come. Let me make this clear: don’t think your name being mentioned somehow changes your reality. I see right through you. Do you know what you hate the most?” she remarked.

Prior to the plea agreement, a judge had rejected a defense motion that claimed another individual had committed the crime. This motion aimed to delay the trial initially scheduled for August 11.

Idaho prosecutors have faced backlash for removing the death penalty option and pushing for a plea deal since it does not require Kohberger to disclose details regarding the crime.

“Yes, the trial is going to be long. It’s the start of a complicated process, with unpredictable outcomes. It’s a gamble, I suppose, but that’s part of the trial. They have substantial evidence, and while the families might feel more visible, he probably won’t even see them nor hear their voices. He has no real understanding of what happened,” she commented.
