Sheridan Gorman murder suspect faces new federal weapons charges
Jose Medina-Medina, the individual charged with the murder of Loyola student Sheridan Gorman, is now facing additional federal charges for illegal possession of a weapon while in Cook County Jail. During court proceedings, Gorman’s family expressed their grief, highlighting her hauntingly emotionless gaze and asserting that her murder was premeditated. This case raises important questions about justice for victims.
The sister of Sheridan Gorman has voiced her frustration over anti-ICE protests happening in her hometown. Madelon Gorman took to Facebook to criticize a group of demonstrators who gathered in Yorktown, New York, stating that witnessing these protests in a place so significant to her family was incredibly painful.
On March 19, Sheridan, a freshman at Loyola University, was tragically shot while walking near the campus in Chicago. Her accused killer, Jose Medina-Medina, 25, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, was supposed to attend a discovery hearing on Monday.
Madelon Gorman shared her heartbreak, saying, “My sister left Yorktown for her education in Chicago, where she was tragically murdered by an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record. That loss shattered my family, altering every holiday, birthday, and milestone we envisioned.”
Protests against ICE in New Jersey have gained national attention, especially following threats directed at ICE officers. A left-wing group called Northern Westchester Indivisible organized a rally in New York’s 17th Congressional District. This gathering was aimed at protesting both MAGA and Representative Mike Lawler.
In her message, Gorman emphasized the personal connection to the demonstrations, describing the area as the streets where they grew up, the schools they attended, and the community events their families took part in. Seeing a protest against an agency that aims to remove dangerous criminals feels very personal, she expressed.
Jose Medina-Medina has been incarcerated since March and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. These charges could potentially be escalated; officials revealed that he was found in jail with a six-inch shank.
FOX News Digital has attempted to contact Northern Westchester Indivisible for additional comments.
