Sister of Olympic Figure Skater Excels in Girls’ Sports

Court Ruling: States Are Allowed to Ban Transgender Athletes from Competing in Women's Sports

The Changing Dynamics of Youth Sports

The younger sibling of Olympic gold medalist Alisa Liu, Jaylin Liu, has publicly announced her transition to a female identity. Since embracing this change, she has been making waves in girls’ sports at both Albany High School and El Cerrito High School in California. Reports indicate that Jaylin, who changed her name from Joshua, has rapidly climbed the ranks in local high school athletics since the 2025 outdoor season.

According to Reduxx, Jaylin accumulated eight championship placements throughout the 2025 season, notably securing a silver medal in the 400-meter race and a gold in the 200-meter at the Tri-County Athletic League Froschsoff Championships. Her success doesn’t merely stop at these victories.

It seems that Jaylin continues to excel in races that are traditionally female events. For instance, she was recognized as the top female competitor in both the 200-meter and 400-meter races during events like the Tri-County Athletic League Finals held on May 8th. According to reports, she was even named the best female runner in the quarter-mile category.

Recent discussions have highlighted the broader implications of this trend in sports. The U.S. Supreme Court recently tackled the topic of male athletes competing in women’s sports, ultimately ruling against the notion that the government must require girls to accept boys on their teams. The decision, which was marked by a 6-3 vote, stated that under Title IX, the term “sex” is to be interpreted strictly as biological sex.

This ruling presents a setback for many advocates who support the idea that gender identity should override biological sex in competitive sports. The court’s stance emphasizes that Americans are entitled to establish societal norms and rules that reflect both sexes’ interests in sports.
