Six Flags riders stuck 245 feet in the air after a power failure leads to coaster evacuation

Visitors at Six Flags Over Texas experienced an unexpected evacuation from one of the park’s tallest roller coasters over the weekend after a power failure halted the ride abruptly.

On Saturday, the Titan roller coaster in Arlington came to a stop mid-ride. Videos circulating on social media captured guests carefully making their way down a steep staircase attached to the colossal structure.

This ride stands at about 245 feet tall and can reach speeds up to 135 miles per hour.

According to WFAA, a local Dallas broadcaster, officials stated that the power outage was caused by an internal technical malfunction affecting electricity throughout the park.

Six Flags reopened the following day.

While the evacuation went smoothly, the footage stirred quite a reaction online, with some viewers expressing that descending from that height would have been terrifying.

“At that height, I could never get down there,” one TikTok user commented.

Another remarked, “I’ll never ride a roller coaster again.” Some users raised concerns about the safety of roller coasters, while others defended them, arguing that amusement park attractions are well-regulated.

Others shared their frustrations regarding the overall power outage, noting long wait times and closed rides for the day.

“There’s always something going on at Six Flags,” said one user, presumably capturing the essence of the park’s unpredictability.

The Titan, operating since 2001, is considered one of the signature attractions at Six Flags Over Texas.

Earlier this year, Fox News Digital covered a similar evacuation incident at Six Flags New England in Massachusetts. In that case, riders on Superman the Ride had to exit from a steep section when the coaster couldn’t complete its cycle.

Park officials stated that trained staff safely guided all passengers during the evacuation while maintaining communication throughout the process.
