Six young immigrants, aged 13 to 21, face charges in the murder of a South Carolina mother, according to the sheriff.

Arrests Made in Connection with Mother’s Murder in South Carolina

In Lancaster, South Carolina, six illegal immigrants aged between 13 and 21 have been charged related to the murder of a woman shot while driving on May 2. The victim, 40-year-old Larisha Charlell Thompson, was reportedly on her way to meet friends in Rock Hill when the incident occurred.

Thompson was shot while behind the wheel of her vehicle on Riverside Road, south of Charlotte, North Carolina. In the days following the shooting, three adults were arrested, including 21-year-old Asael Aminadas Torres Kirinos, 18-year-old Jarby Ardon Ramos-Odari, and 17-year-old Jason Pineda Salgado. Additionally, three minors aged 13, 14, and 15 have also been implicated in her death and in a robbery that took place on April 30.

“The shooting undermines the basic decency of our society,” commented Lancaster Sheriff Barry Ferru. He described how Thompson was minding her own business when the group approached her car for an unknown reason, leading to the tragic event.

The Department of Homeland Security has requested the detention of all six individuals involved, asserting the community is “safer” now that they are apprehended.

Authorities described Thompson’s murder as part of a “random robbery attempt.” The suspects, it seems, attempted to enter her locked vehicle before fleeing when they realized it was secured.

Prior to Thompson’s murder, on April 30, deputies were called to a local market to investigate a robbery that had occurred. Video footage showed several young men attempting to enter the store late at night, which investigators believe ties back to the events that led to Thompson’s death.

Amid the investigation, detectives collected ballistic evidence linking both the murder and the earlier robbery to the same weapon, indicating a methodical pattern in these crimes. Surveillance technology helped identify Torres Kirinos at both locations. Following questioning on May 8, authorities were able to find and arrest five more suspects.

The three adult suspects have been charged not only with murder but also attempted armed robbery. Torres Kirinos is further charged with illegal firearm possession. Alternatively, the juvenile group faces similar charges related to the murder and robbery attempt.

In a significant development, all six suspects are slated for deportation under federal immigration laws. Authorities have assured that their immigration status will be scrutinized following any court proceedings. Thompson’s family expressed profound sorrow, grappling with the reality of this tragedy.
