Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s latest crusade as secretary to the Department of Health and Human Services has proposed a ban on eight FDA-approved artificial food dyes across the United States.
While most conservatives support the crackdown, Stu Burguiere I’m not sure about “Stu dos America” as much as RFK Jr. claims.
“Obviously, conservatives don’t really like government intervention, so they’re much more comfortable working with the food industry and making choices rather than revoking their permission for certain dyes,” Stu says.
An article in the Washington Post details what “science says” about these artificial food dyes and their impact on children. STU is not sure it’s as bad as we were led to believe.

“Consumer advocacy groups said there was ample evidence that dyes could cause some harm to some children,” Stu read, saying “consumer advocacy groups” were “not scientists.”
“Some kids may basically be more obviously harmful to you, but many studies have not shown harm. Some of the studies have shown a little bitty, small harm, as they are mostly related to behavioral disorders,” he continues. “And finally, in any of these studies, it never hits every child. It’s a small percentage that it hits, even if it appears in the study.”
However, artificial dyes do not contain any nutritional value, so it does not seem to be worth the risk for most parents.
“No one has said they should be forced to eat artificial dyes. That’s insane,” Stu says.
“They love artificial dyes, so they don’t use artificial dyes,” he says. “They use artificial dyes because they are cheap, costless and don’t even pay for higher profit margins or charge less.”
