Tragic Deaths of “American Idol” Executive and Husband in Encino
Encino, California – Robin Kay, an executive associated with “American Idol,” and her husband, Thomas DeLuca, were discovered dead on Monday in their Los Angeles mansion.
A family friend, who requested anonymity, shared that the couple had relocated to Encino to ensure their safety. Yet, their unknown assailant has left many questions unanswered. Just a few weeks prior, the couple had faced a break-in at their home, prompting them to enhance their security measures.
“They had added spikes on the top of their fence, and made sure to upgrade their video surveillance,” the friend explained. “It seems like they were already taking precautions.”
When Fox News Digital reached out regarding the couple’s first intrusion, the friend recollected that they believed the intruder had fled the scene when their dog started barking. “There was broken glass and commotion…” they said, reflecting on that night. “It’s heartbreaking, really.”
The friend further emphasized that they were among the “greatest people you could meet.”
Surveillance footage has become a critical part of the investigation into this double murder. The friend noted that the couple had expressed their desire for safety, particularly after experiencing crime in their neighborhood.
“You couldn’t find anything negative about them,” the friend remarked. “They were just great individuals.”
Kay and DeLuca, both in their 70s, had just purchased their mansion in 2023, which had a previous owner known for his fame in the music industry. The residence belonged to rapper Juice WRLD, who tragically passed away in 2019. The couple’s deaths are part of a troubling series of violent incidents in the area.
In May, actor Anthony Anderson’s home was also targeted in Encino, where he was attending an event. At least 15 burglaries had been reported in the neighborhood earlier last year, raising concerns over safety.
The Los Angeles Police Department is actively investigating; they recently arrested a 22-year-old suspect named Raymond Boodarian in connection with Kay and DeLuca’s deaths. Golan from the LAPD mentioned that the suspect has not yet provided a statement. Currently, authorities are looking into the evidence gathered from surveillance video and forensic analysis.
As investigations continue, the community reflects on the loss of two cherished individuals in a place that should have felt secure.
