Most of the areas affected by Hurricane Helen are filled with Trump supporters. Asheville, North Carolina, is a notable exception, but we're just four weeks away from the consequential presidential election, and hurricane-hit states like Georgia (October 15) and North Carolina (October) are just a few weeks away from opening early voting. It has been 2 weeks. 17), Tennessee (October 16).
Two of those states (Georgia and North Carolina) are battleground states. So let me ask you…
What incentive do Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have to rally those who voted for Trump?
none.
Oh, you're still naive and you might think: people are suffering. Kamala isn't going to withhold aid just to get a few votes.
What, are you an idiot?
Joe and Kamala wide-opened our southern border to fentanyl, murdered a record number of Americans, and aided in the sex trafficking of countless infants in order to win a few votes.
Joe and Kamala want to nuke the Senate filibuster and make baby killing a “right” to get a few votes.
Joe and Kamala are advocating the permanent mutilation and sterilization of minor children as sacrifices to the LGBTQ+ lobby in order to win a few votes.
If it increases our chances of winning in battleground states, then those same people can leave a bunch of people they see as deplorable, ignorant, gun-and-Bible-clinging redneck hillbillies without power for weeks at a time. Don't you think so?
Let me tell you something…If you handed Kamala a red button that causes stomach cancer for all those who voted for Trump, she would break her leg running to press it. Then she pressed four more times, just to be sure. Then she had her husband, Doug, carry the red button in his wallet, and she laughed at the memory as she took it out and rubbed it like a charm.
The voices of dissatisfaction with the federal government's inaction are growing day by day. Yes, I am effectively at Ground Zero here in Boone, North Carolina, but the best way to help my small town is to stay put and get out of the way. So, to be honest, I have no idea what the situation is. Today is day 8 and I know I have no cell phone or internet service (courtesy of Starlink). I also know that the main roads in and out of town near my home are still closed. Florida doesn't seem to have these problems a week after a hurricane, but to be fair, Florida has the memory to deal with a hurricane. Not so in western North Carolina.
Days after Hurricane Helen, the Biden-Harris administration finally sent up to 1,000 troops to help deliver food, water and medicine to isolated communities. But these efforts are too little, too late.
Compare this to the military's response after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In this case, thousands of troops were mobilized within seven hours of receiving the order as the situation got out of control.
Apparently, it's not worth calling the soldiers of the 101st Air Assault Division, seven hours away. The 2nd Marine Division is stationed just a few hours from Ft. Liberty is on standby. But for the people of North Carolina, a few phone calls from Delaware and a photo opportunity are all that seem to make sending a small contingent of active-duty troops worthwhile.
Having lived in Appalachia for over 20 years, I say this… We may not be as college-educated as the folks in Asheville, but we're resourceful enough, especially if you're… If you believe so, find a way to vote. They are playing games with our recovery to discourage people from voting.
Nevertheless, for Joe and Kamala, there is no downside to delaying support for Red America in the hope that we won't make it to the polls. Heaven knows just a few missing votes can make a difference and the corporate media will never hold them accountable.
The media will also go out of their way to push that red button.
