Dramatic footage shows a small plane crashing violently into a Utah family’s front yard, injuring two people on board and damaging the home.
The twin-engine Piper PA-34 crashed in front of Anthony Baugh’s home in the residential area of Roy, near Ogden-Hinckley Airport, just before 4pm on Wednesday.
Mr Baugh’s wife, who was at home with their children, called him while he was at work and explained what had happened.
He watched security camera footage of the crash on his phone, which showed the white plane skidding to a halt in his front yard, scattering debris on the lawn.
“I immediately panicked and tried to get home as quickly as possible,” he said. He told Fox 13.
His wife ran outside the plane to help the pilot and two other passengers on board, both of whom had suffered minor injuries and were in a “state of shock.”
“She tried to offer them water but they said they couldn’t get any water or anything right now because they were in shock. But when she came out and saw the man had a cut around his eye or on the top of his head, the young woman looked shocked,” Mr Bau said.
One home and surrounding trees were damaged. According to the Roy City Fire and Rescue Department.
No one other than the plane’s passengers was injured.
Neighbor Pat Bouhuis told Fox 13 when he heard the explosion “I thought the house was exploding.”
“I walked out to my house and saw the plane parked in the driveway two houses down.”
She said she has lived in the area for 62 years and has never seen anything like this before.
The accident has shaken Mr Bau’s family because they had a family member who died in a plane crash several years ago.
“I was a little nervous,” he said.
The identities of the two people on board the plane have not been released.
The FAA said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
