Review of the CZ BREN 2 MS Pistol

The CZ BREN 2 MS pistol stands out as a precision firearm, boasting AR-style controls, exceptional ergonomics, remarkable accuracy, and surprisingly low recoil—almost like that of a BB gun.

Our review model featured a 14-inch barrel, which, when fitted with a stabilizer brace, gives it a carbine-like appearance. This barrel notably enhances the gun’s accuracy. The combination of the barrel’s length, the BREN 2 MS pistol’s nearly perfect balance, and a crisp trigger makes hitting bullseyes feel almost effortless.

While the controls resemble those of an AR-15 and it accepts AR magazines, one might also notice a hint of AK-style ergonomics in its design. Essentially, it merges the best features of both platforms while distinctly embodying CZ’s craftsmanship.

We mounted the durable Aimpoint Comp M4 red dot sight on the BREN 2 MS pistol, complete with an anti-reflection shield. Midway through our review—after firing around 500 rounds—we added an Ambient Arms EXO suppressor, which operates at about 400 degrees cooler than traditional suppressors.

The outcome? Exceptional, consistent accuracy while keeping hearing protection intact.

It’s worth mentioning that the BREN platform from CZ is battle-tested and currently in use by Ukrainian forces against Russian troops. This real-world feedback has allowed CZ to refine the platform, resulting in smooth operation. Additionally, the BREN 2 MS pistol effectively reduces felt recoil, making it comparable to shooting a BB or pellet gun.

Our reviewed BREN 2 MS pistol was chambered in 5.56, but it’s also available in 7.62×39. This firearm cleverly fuses elements from both American and European gun cultures into a compact, efficient, and reliable package.
