Smith & Wesson thanks Elon Musk for X platform after Facebook suspends its account indefinitely

Iconic gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson said Facebook has indefinitely suspended its account and thanked Elon Musk for defending free speech on the X platform.

The company posted a screenshot of a notification from Meta, Facebook's parent company.

“I want to thank @elonmusk and @X for supporting free speech and our constitutional rights.”

“Despite spending significant effort and resources to comply with Facebook's ever-changing community guidelines regarding firearms, on Friday, November 22nd, 15 years after its initial creation, our account was disabled. It was suspended on time.” written by the company.

The firearms maker said it is working to reinstate the account, which has more than 1.6 million followers.

“Thank you @elonmusk for supporting free speech and the constitutional rights guaranteed by the First and Second Amendments at a time when free speech and the right to bear arms are under constant attack. We would like to thank @X,” the company added.

Mr. Musk responded to this post.

“We are bringing back the gun emoji and we believe in the Constitution,” he said. I wrote Added gun emoji.

The 170-year-old firearms maker cited tough Democratic policies when it moved from Massachusetts to Maryville, Tennessee, in 2023. The company's president and CEO said the move involves a $125 million investment and the creation of 800 jobs.

Facebook had been accused of interfering in the election by selecting high-profile news stories on its popular social media platform. Since then, we have discontinued the “News” section and moved away from promoting news articles altogether.
