Smugglers advertising illegal Canada-US border crossings on TikTok

Smugglers bravely use tiktok to promote human trafficking services across the Canadian-US border. This makes up for Great White North's position to thwart critical deals with the US on tariffs and security.

For nearly a year, Canada's “coyotes” have largely targeted Indian citizens, spending up to $5,000 on the state with new cross-border accounts pop up every time someone else is removed from the platform. We promise you a trip that is free.

Competition can be cut off – one post reads “$4,000 cheapest on the market.”

According to US Customs and Border Protection Data, an average of 4,500 Indian citizens per month went up to 2,900 before President Trump took office, but the post is a consequence of at least half a dozen of these coyote accounts. Identifying that it is still in operation. In Tiktok.

This post contacted one smuggler. He said it would cost $4,500 for one person to enter the Imperial State from Montreal.

Many in Tiktok boast about how safe and easy it has become to travel through the forest.

“When you're ready, send me your ID,” he said.

The trip will start from either of Montreal. Brampton outside Toronto. Surrey outside Vancouver. According to Tiktok's accounts reviewed by the Post, they will deliver immigrants to upstate New York or Washington.

A trip to New York includes a two-hour car ride and a 25-minute walk through the woods. There, migrants are given a map to guide them across borders outside the official checkpoint.

The Coyote told the Post, up to five immigrants will be taken at once for a “group walk.”

Smugglers promise that immigrants will arrive in the United States on the same day, and only pay once they cross the border.

For smugglers, the Canadian border has long been seen as a simple fuss.

Last year, the post spoke with residents who live with the border who testified about how often they see illegal intersections.

It is the world's longest land border, unlike the US-Mexico border, and is largely in the wilderness, so it is almost vulnerable outside of official intersections.

“They call it a border, but you can cross at any time,” said Cinder Purewar, a political scientist at the Quan Tren Institute of Technology in British Columbia, Canada.

“It's a really defenseless border. Basically, there's no one there.”

For smugglers, Indian citizens constitute a niche market, but they are thriving markets.

In 2024, Indians made up almost a quarter of those arrested for illegally crossing the US northern border. US Customs and Border Security data.

Every day, more than 100 Indian citizens are caught on average by agents on the Canadian-US border. Data shows that this number has tripled over the past two years.

Most often, they enter Canada on a student visa. Last year, the country's immigration agency was estimated to have had 50,000 students, but never appeared at the school. Those 20,000 people were from India.

“This type of behavior shows a culture of incompetence and how drug trafficking and human smuggling have turned out under previous administrations,” said Rep. Jeff Van Drew.

“Well, I have the news for these criminals. There's a new sheriff in town.”

Still, the Canadian coyotes were able to throw a monkey wrench into strained US-Canadian relations.

Immigrants crossing the Canadian-US border illegally walk through the woods for about 30 minutes to complete their journey.

Earlier this month, Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian exports to the US, saying it wasn't enough to police the border side.

The US has committed to promoting a $1.3 billion border security plan that includes 24/7 surveillance, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a pledge to patrol the border using drones and helicopters, and 24/7 surveillance. I agreed to suspend customs duties.

The intersection at the Southern border has effectively stopped since Trump took office. In February so far, around 359 illegal immigrants were captured across the southern border per day, according to leaks in customs and border security data.

But some skepticism will easily make the untouched north safe.

“Nothing will change,” Purewal said.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakes (R-NY) called for a federal investigation after being spoken about the fuss by the Post.

“The Department of Justice needs to investigate how these apps are used for malicious activities and get cooperation from the companies that run them,” said Rep. Nicole Mariotakis, R-NY ) said.

Canadian Minister of Public Security David McGinty claimed that illegal immigrants would be caught.

“The intersections between ports of entry are illegal and extremely dangerous,” said spokesperson Mary Liz Power.

Added Border Patrol spokesman Steven Bansbach: “All US Border Patrol resources will be used to prevent illegal entry of contraband to the people and the United States.”
