Snoop Dogg Opens Ice Cream Shop in Venice Beach
Snoop Dogg has just added another venture to his impressive collection. He inaugurated an ice cream shop on April 20th in Venice Beach.
The 54-year-old rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., launched Dr. Bombay Ice Cream at 1827 Oceanfront Walk this past Sunday.
Reports indicate that Snoop co-founded this shop along with his son, Cordell Broadus, who takes on the role of creative director. Additionally, rapper Lil Baby joined as an investor.
Broadus shared, “Bringing Lil Baby on to Dr. Bombay was a very intentional move. He has built one of the most authentic brands in music and knows how to connect with people.” It’s clear that this partnership is aimed at creating something lasting, rather than just a gimmick.
The Dr. Bombay brand first appeared in July 2023, with its ice cream already available in Walmart and 7-Eleven locations across the country. However, the Venice Beach location marks its official grand opening.
They offer several unique flavors: Baked Blueberry Muffin, Peanut Butter Jelly Thyme, Strawberry Cream Dream, Tropical Sorbet Swizzle, and Iced Out Orange Cream.
What’s interesting is that the brand aims to “remix classic frozen treats with West Coast flavors, blending bold tastes, textures, and elements inspired by music and hip-hop,” which, I suppose, adds an intriguing twist to the typical ice cream experience.
Last year, Snoop released a limited-edition flavor called Birthday Party to celebrate his 52nd birthday. The flavor was a mix of yellow cake with candy sprinkles and chocolate frosting swirls, but it’s not clear if it will make a return to their lineup.
When asked about his favorite flavor, Snoop mentioned the iced out orange cream, describing it as vanilla mixed with orange sorbet and orange swirls. It sounds delightful, and honestly, it’s the kind of flavor you’d want to have regularly.
The ice cream shop is situated next to Marathon Burger, a chain established by Samiel “Black Sam” Asghedom in memory of his brother, the late rapper Nipsey Hussle. The model for the shop seems focused on providing visitors with a vibrant, nostalgic experience in one of the liveliest areas of Los Angeles.
And just to note, this place is set to operate until October 2026, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy those unique ice cream flavors!
