Snoop Dogg Responds to Criticism Through New Album
Snoop Dogg takes a unique approach to express his feelings about recent backlash: he channels it into his music.
In a recent episode of See What Happens Live on May 15, the rapper discussed how a negative reception to his performance at an event during President Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this year inspired his upcoming album, titled “Iz It A Crime?”
He questioned, “Is that a crime?” and shared his experience of facing attempts to marginalize him following certain controversies.
“Rather than confront it head-on, I’ve decided to focus on my craft,” Snoop explained, emphasizing that he uses music as a therapeutic outlet to express his thoughts and feelings.
“Making music is what I do best,” he continued. “Listening to people through music is crucial for me. So, I ask: is it really a crime?”
This latest performance comes eight years after he made headlines for criticizing another artist who performed for Trump. Although Trump himself was absent, his staffer, David Sachs, hosted the event.
Earlier this week on The Breakfast Club, Snoop clarified his political stance, stating, “I’m not a politician. I don’t align with either the Republicans or Democrats. I’m all about the Gang Party, and that’s that.” He also expressed frustration over being labeled a sellout, remarking that he simply chose not to engage in the debate.
New episodes of Watch What Happens Live can be seen on Bravo from Sunday to Thursday at 10 PM, with episodes available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
