Snoop Dogg’s insincere apology for anti-LGBTQ remarks

Snoop Dogg's insincere apology for anti-LGBTQ remarks

Snoop Dogg recently found himself in hot water after he expressed his discontent with LGBTQ elements in a kid’s film. While watching “Lightyear” with his grandchild, he noted the need to explain why the film featured a character with two mothers.

Following this, a purported apology attributed to Snoop Dogg gained traction online, though some are skeptical and suggest it’s a hoax.

A source close to the artist shared with Deadline that no comments reportedly made by Snoop’s verified Instagram account came from his team, claiming, “It’s fake,” according to an anonymous insider.

Blazetv host Jason Whitlock, however, isn’t convinced by this explanation.

“I think he’s backing down,” Whitlock remarked during a chat with Blazetv contributor Shemeka Michelle. “It seems like he’s trying to distance himself from it all, pretending no one on his team was involved.”

Michelle echoed this sentiment, expressing disappointment in Snoop’s apparent retreat. “Honestly, he made a smoother exit than Michael Jackson’s moonwalk. When he initially commented on opposing Buzz Lightyear, he seemed firm, so this isn’t surprising,” she commented.

She further speculated that perhaps there was some kind of apology or a narrative constructed to show he has LGBTQ friends and relatives, noting, “This kind of thing happens often.”

Even if the apology were fabricated, Whitlock argues that Snoop Dogg still comes off as hypocritical.

“He creates music that kids adore, often with raw lyrics that are quite damaging,” he said. “It’s as if these so-called politically aware rebels only maintain values when it’s financially beneficial for them,” he added, claiming Snoop acted in a manner that was, well, economically savvy.
