According to her sad family, a social media influencer with over 5 million followers died last week on a birthday trip in Mexico.
Alicis Shabaanie, 24, of Kansas City, died suddenly in Cabo San Lucas on March 2 after being attacked asthma while sleeping. I told Fox 4 kc Monday.
“She was not selfish in her knowledge and was a very open book about her journey,” Charles Barney said of her sister. “She will always be loved by her heart and her legacy will last forever.”
The social media star, who lived in Los Angeles, is popular on Tiktok, Instagram and YouTube, and mostly posted video content, including punchy comedy kits. She also had her own production company.
Her brother said she died after suffering an asthma attack while she was sleeping, Fox4 KC reported.
Charles, who was in Mexico with her when she died, revealed details of her death and threw away the “misinformation” online.
“She's not on drugs. She's a lovey-dovey and happy individual, she cherished her life and looked forward to planning for next year. She was in Mexico to celebrate her birthday. She was a very classy young woman,” he told the station.

Her dream, he said, is to become a writer and director, opening one day a production studio in her hometown to support other aspiring artists in the Kansas City area.
“Alisha was very goal-oriented, creative and passionate about giving back,” Charles said.
