Social Media Reacts to the Passing of O.J. Simpson

Former NFL running back and convicted murderer O.J. Simpson died Wednesday at age 76 after a battle with cancer. And social media users are thinking too.

The family said in a statement that Simpson was “surrounded by his children and grandchildren.” His family requests that their wishes for privacy and grace be respected during this time of transition. ”

Simpson’s prostate cancer diagnosis was revealed as recently as February. According to reports, the NFL star learned of his cancer shortly before it became public.

Simpson, known as “The Juice,” parlayed his incredible and still record-breaking career in the NFL into an acting career, appearing in film and television.

However, he gained notoriety in 1994 when he was accused of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. He was ultimately acquitted of the murder charge, but lost several civil lawsuits over the murder.

However, although he escaped from prison on the murder charge, he was convicted of armed robbery in 2007 for stealing a set of sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas dealer, served several years for that crime, and was released on parole in 2017.

Because of this controversial history, social media focused its attention on the news of Simpson’s death at the age of 76.

NFL Network host Kyle Brandt didn’t mince words.

The murder charges against Simpson also led to a lot of comedic content on Saturday Night Live.
