The final installment of June’s Social Security payments is on its way. Last week, people got their checks a day early because the 19th was a federal holiday (Juneteenth). If you’re expecting your payment this week, you can get it this Wednesday. And if you’re still waiting for your May check, this could be the reason it hasn’t arrived yet.
The date you receive your money depends on your birth date and when your Social Security benefits start. If you’re not sure, we can give you the exact date.
Read on to find out if you’ll get a check this week and how your payment date will be determined. Plus, here’s the maximum Social Security payment you can get each month and how to apply for benefits.

How does the Social Security Administration determine your Social Security payment date?
The Social Security Administration usually pays on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month. The day you receive your check depends on your birth date.
- If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be sent on the second Wednesday of that month.
- If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any month, your payment will be made on the third Wednesday of that month.
- If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any month, your payment will be made on the fourth Wednesday of that month.
Payments to SSI recipients are usually made on the first of each month, with some exceptions explained below.

Can I receive my Social Security and SSI payments on the same day?
If you received Social Security benefits before May 1997, or if you receive both Social Security and SSI, your payment schedule is different. Instead of payments being made on Wednesdays, you will receive your Social Security benefits on the 3rd of each month and your SSI benefits on the 1st of each month.
If the 1st or 3rd of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment date will change. For example, because March 3rd fell on a weekend, Social Security beneficiaries received their March payment two days early, on March 1st.
What happens if I don’t receive my Social Security check?
If you don’t receive your check by the dates listed above, or you don’t receive it at all, the Social Security Administration recommends you wait three more days before contacting them. After that, you can speak with a representative at 800-772-1213. SSA Notes Wait times are shorter Wednesday through Friday and weekdays from 4pm to 7pm.
