Sophia Franklin Excludes Alex Cooper from Memoir Cover
Sophia Franklin has notably cut Alex Cooper from the cover of her forthcoming memoir, titled “Daddy Issues.” The two were formerly best friends and co-hosts of the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy” since December 2018.
The striking cover features an image from their past, but with Cooper’s face removed, leaving only his blonde hair and outfit visible.
In a recent interview while promoting her book, Franklin discussed the creative process behind the cover. She initially thought about using a childhood photo but eventually decided it didn’t resonate with her story. “We needed a cover that told a story beyond just ‘Daddy Issues.’ It’s meant to provoke,” she reflected, comparing it to the concept of “The Social Network,” but with a twist focused on feminine experiences.
Franklin shared that her memoir, set to release on November 10, will delve into her fallout with Cooper and the reasons behind her departure from the podcast.
“I had a jarring experience six years ago that forced me to reflect deeply,” she noted, referring to her exit from the podcast in 2020. “I just had to mature and let go of my ego.” The two, who became known for their candid discussions about sex and relationships, saw tensions flare during contract negotiations with Barstool Sports in 2020.
Owner Dave Portnoy criticized both women for their approach during the contract discussions, labeling them as “unprofessional” and “greedy.” Tensions escalated when Cooper chose to accept a deal that included podcast ownership, while Franklin opted out. As a result, Cooper continued with the podcast solo.
Following their split, Franklin launched her own podcast, “Sofia with an F,” sparking ongoing exchanges of barbs between the two online. In 2022, Franklin dismissed any notion of a reunion with Cooper, sarcastically suggesting she would only reconsider for a hefty payment.
Cooper has recently characterized their relationship in stark terms, revealing during an appearance on Barstool Radio that their on-air friendship was a façade and that they faced severe tension behind the scenes. She stated their partnership was, in her view, always on shaky ground.
The rift continues to unfold, with both women providing differing narratives about their time together in the podcasting world. Franklin’s memoir is expected to shed light on her perspective of the dramatic split.
