Soldier Arrested for Anti-Semitic Threats
A soldier in the U.S. Army stationed at a Louisiana base has allegedly threatened to attack a synagogue while expressing extreme anti-Semitic views on Discord, authorities reported.
Jacob Marcoulier, 22, assigned to Fort Polk, was taken into custody last week amid accusations of making violent threats in February. This was reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana.
The FBI’s National Threat Operations Center acted after a tip linked the user “el.bostino” to Marcoulier. They shared audio recordings from various platforms where he allegedly discussed plans for a mass shooting at a synagogue. Prosecutors claimed he stated, “After this deployment, if the Jews are still in control of our government, I’m going to take my AK and my 75-round drum and all the extra magazines with me…” He further described his intentions to “kill every Jewish person I know in the synagogue,” characterizing it as his “goal in life.”
He also added, “You guys won’t do anything, but I will. I just have to end this…” His comments reflected a troubling mindset, asserting that he felt compelled to act to solve what he perceived as a crisis.
In another chilling statement, Marcoulier expressed his views on societal dynamics, alleging, “These mothers are still being murdered to ensure access to young white men.”
Following his arrest, Marcoulier was seen smiling in his mugshot, facing charges related to making threats across state lines. Authorities suggest that he could face up to five years in federal prison if convicted.
The U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller emphasized the seriousness of threats against synagogues, stating that they’re an attack on the religious freedoms guaranteed to everyone. The case also highlights the FBI’s determination to act against such threats promptly.
Marcoullier has since been banned from Discord for breaching the platform’s policies against hate speech. A spokesperson for Discord remarked on their commitment to monitoring and removing users who spread harmful ideologies, stressing their collaborative efforts with law enforcement.
