Heading into Sunday's singles matches at the Solheim Cup, Team Europe is trailing Team USA, 10-6.
But Charlie Hull played a big part in Europe's success on Saturday by winning both games, and as a veteran player she knows no one should doubt them if they are given the chance.
After she and Estelle Henseleit won the foursomes match, she dropped the mic about playing marathon golf and said she may be depressed but not defeated.
“Even if you think you can't do it anymore, keep trying. It's not over until the fat woman sings,” Haru said with a cheeky smile.
The European team didn't give up in the afternoon, splitting four four-ball matches, with Hull and close friend Georgia Hall beating Alisen Corpas and Lilia Vu 2 UP.
Although they are very close and have appeared together in the Solheim Cup on multiple occasions, they have never played together.
“Honestly, we've both been hoping for Solheim some time now and finally got the chance to play together in our last game,” Hall said. “Yeah, obviously, it was really nice to have this experience with her, like a lot of things we go through together.”
Hull continued to make bold statements after the afternoon's matches. The Euros are four points behind the United States and have a lot of work to do in Sunday's singles matches, but Hull knows exactly what to do.
“Win your points, have fun, have fun, just beat the guy,” Hull said.
Team USA hasn't won the Cup in seven years. They played well on Friday, winning both sets 3-1. They tied both sets on Saturday. They couldn't extend their lead, but still found a way to keep the momentum going.
But Sunday's singles could upend the entire event. Last year, Team USA and Team Europe were 8-8 after the first two days. Both teams earned six points on Sunday, and the Solheim Cup ended in a draw, but Europe retained the cup because they won it in 2021.
Hull and other veterans on the European team know anything can happen on Sunday, so what she says is based on her experience.
It should be an entertaining Sunday at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Can Team Europe win their fourth straight Solheim Cup title, or can Team USA end their championship drought?
