Pastor Jimmy Swaggart in Critical Condition
Pastor Jimmy Swaggart is facing serious health issues, as his son Donnie revealed that his father is experiencing cardiac arrest and is in need of miracles following an intensive care hospitalization. The 90-year-old pastor was admitted on Sunday after first responders revived him at his home in Louisiana. Swaggart, who gained significant fame as a television and radio pastor during the 1970s and 1980s, has seen a resurgence of support thanks to his Sonlife Broadcasting Network in more recent years.
On Tuesday, Donnie Swaggart shared an update on his father’s condition with viewers of Sonlife.
“I wish I could tell you there’s been some improvement, but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any change,” he stated.
He described the last 48 hours as “very stressful.”
“The reality is, as we sit here now, only miracles can change this,” Donnie mentioned.
While at the hospital, Donnie read from the Book of Psalms with his father. “God’s ways are perfect,” he quoted, noting his deep faith.
“We don’t doubt God’s plan,” he continued. “We all have a limited time here, and it’s in God’s hands to decide how that unfolds.”
He urged everyone to keep praying.
Donnie also expressed concern for his mother, Francis. “I can only imagine the toll this takes on her—physically, mentally, and emotionally,” he remarked.
Jimmy Swaggart shot to prominence in the 1980s with his television ministry, becoming a notable figure through his broadcasts. Although he faced significant challenges in the late 1980s and early 1990s, he managed to rebuild his life and ministry, continuing to preach at a family worship center in Louisiana.
