Tragedy Strikes Minneapolis Catholic School
Sophie Cunningham, a player for the Indiana Fever, recently reacted to the devastating news of a shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where two children lost their lives and seventeen others were injured on Wednesday.
Cunningham took to social media to express her sorrow for the victims, describing the violence as “pure evil.” She emphasized her sadness, stating, “It’s just horrible. May everyone involved feel our love!”
As a practicing Christian, Cunningham has integrated her faith into her basketball routine. Back during her college days at the University of Missouri, she was known for making the sign of the cross on her shoes and other parts of her body before games, a ritual that highlighted her beliefs.
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, the two children who tragically died were just 8 and 10 years old. The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Robert or Robin Westman.
Details on the Shooter
Court records reveal that a juvenile in Minneapolis changed their name from Robert Westman to Robin in 2019. Patel confirmed that the shooter, once known as Robert Paul Westman, now identifies as Robin M. Westman. This change was acknowledged by the shooter’s mother in court documents.
Authorities also noted that disturbing videos related to the incident, featuring writings and inappropriate content, had been removed from YouTube.
Community Response
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara mentioned that investigators are aware of a manifesto linked to the shooter, which was shared online around the time of the shooting. He described the content as deeply unsettling, indicating that it appears to show the shooter at the scene.
This tragic event has left the community reeling, with many coming together to mourn and support one another in the aftermath.
