Texas Woman Alleges Medical Professionals Pressured Her into Transition
A 23-year-old woman from Texas, Soren Aldaco, asserts that gender-affirming doctors essentially “gaslit” her into transitioning to male during her teenage years and even guided her on how to defraud her insurance for “top surgery” to have her breasts removed.
Aldaco, who is currently engaged in a legal battle with the medical professionals who facilitated her transition, claims she was recklessly pressured to begin hormone treatments with testosterone and estrogen antagonists at just 17 years old, following a mere 30-minute consultation with a nurse.
In an editorial for a major publication, Aldaco shared that she was prescribed medication with little regard for thorough assessment or discussion.
At 19, she underwent surgery to remove both breasts, which she claims was poorly executed by her surgeon.
Aldaco began identifying as transgender at age 11, and after pursuing various medical interventions, she claims a surgeon at Austin’s Crane Clinic urged her to proceed with an elective double mastectomy.
“My surgeon facilitated my transition as much as possible and provided me with tips on insurance coverage,” she noted.
After the surgery, Aldaco experienced significant complications, including severe bruising across her rib cage and chest. When she sought help, her surgeon dismissed her concerns repeatedly.
This week, Aldaco filed her lawsuit in the Texas Supreme Court, revealing that it was only after being treated by a compassionate emergency room doctor that she recognized the manipulation she had suffered.
“Watching them open my scar, drain nearly three glasses of blood, and then sew it up made me realize how misled I had been,” Aldaco stated.
About six months later, she made the decision to embrace her true self, without hormones or further surgeries.
Aldaco, who faced a challenging upbringing and has struggled with body image issues for years, holds her psychiatrist responsible for suggesting that her difficulties were tied to her transgender identity.
“Connecting my turbulent home life and my adolescent online experiences helped me see that I wasn’t born into the wrong body. I never was,” she remarked.
“Through this journey, I learned just how coercive the gender identity ideology was for me, masking harm as empathy.”
In her lawsuit, filed this year, she alleges that her nurse, psychiatrist, and surgeon pressured her to transition without considering any alternatives.
The legal matter escalated to the Supreme Court as the defendants claimed she was too late to file for medical malpractice under Texas law.
Earlier this year, a 22-year-old woman from Westchester, who transitioned during her teens, won a $2 million lawsuit against New York doctors accused of compelling her to undergo a double mastectomy while she was still a minor.
A jury found the healthcare professionals liable for medical malpractice given that she was only 16 at the time of the surgery.
