Tragic Death of South African Stewardess on Superyacht in the Bahamas
A tragic incident has occurred in the Bahamas where a 20-year-old woman from South Africa was found dead aboard a luxury superyacht. Reports indicate that a fellow crew member has been charged in connection with her murder.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) stated that the woman was discovered with visible injuries in the engine compartment of the yacht on July 3. The vessel was docked at a marina near Harbor Island. The deceased has been identified as Page Bell, a stewardess from Johannesburg, according to her family who announced the news on social media.
Officers arrived to find that Bell had been reported missing shortly before 1 p.m., but she was unresponsive when they reached her. Following an examination by local doctors, it was confirmed that she had died on board.
In the court proceedings, the accused was identified as Bridgedo Muñoz, a Mexican engineer working on the yacht. He was apprehended, treated at a local clinic, and subsequently charged with murder in Nassau Magistrates’ Court on July 9. Bail was denied, and he is set to appear in court again on November 20.
Bell’s family expressed their heartbreak through social media. Her sister Chelsea posted, “Tonight, Mom and Dad are flying to the Bahamas to begin the painful process of not only bringing the baby girl home but also seeking justice for the monster that took her life.”
In another statement, her parents referred to her death as “brutal,” underscoring the family’s deep grief.
Bell was just days away from her 21st birthday, which would have been on July 14. Her family affectionately called her “Paisie.” They shared the poignant news about her death, saying, “It’s in a broken heart that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Paisie life has been brutally taken away from us.”
Harbor Island, where the incident took place, is known for its exclusivity, attracting both celebrities and superyachts. Bell had previously worked on various motor yachts, and past coworkers described her as “more than a teammate—she was family.”
To support the family with travel and legal expenses while also helping with the return of Bell’s body, a GoFundMe page has raised over $42,000. As a tribute, her mother encouraged supporters to enjoy Page’s favorite dessert, red velvet cake, and share photos in her memory.
The investigation into the homicide remains ongoing, with authorities yet to determine a motive.
