South American crime ring suspected in Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes robberies

Police believe a South American crime syndicate was behind the October robbery at the homes of Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. According to Fox 4 in Kansas City.

According to TMZ, a police report says Kelce had approximately $20,000 in cash stolen and his back door was also damaged.

“It's no surprise at all that this criminal activity that's happening across the country is being planned by very sophisticated people in cartel-like organizations,” security expert Mike Barbieri told FOX. told 4.

Police received a report of a robbery at Mahomes' residence in Belton, Missouri, around midnight on October 6, and the robbers entered Kelsey's home in Leawood, Kansas, at around 7:33 p.m. the next day. Per TMZ.

The Chiefs played a Monday Night Football game at home against the Saints on October 7th.

The FBI is assisting the efforts of the Leawood County and Cass County Sheriff's Offices as the robbery may be part of a larger operation. According to TMZ.

Mahomes, who bought the home in 2020, called the situation “frustrating.”

“It’s disappointing,” Mahomes added last week. “Obviously it’s something you don’t want to happen to anyone, but of course it happens to you.”

Kelsey bought a mansion last year to have more privacy while his relationship with pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift blossomed.

According to a report from TMZ, the pair did not return home after the break-in and instead stayed at a hotel in Kansas City.

The Leawood Police Department said in a statement provided to Fox 4 that it does not comment on public investigations.

“The agency is following up on all investigative leads and working closely with victims to solve cold cases,” the department said. “The Leawood Police Department is dedicated to the public we serve and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure Leawood remains one of the safest cities in Kansas. .”

The robbers also broke into another home in the area and stole more than $500,000 worth of jewelry, according to Fox 4. FOX 4 released video of the robbers carrying out the robbery.

“This is a sophisticated operation. This is not the kind of guy who goes to the local pawn shop,” Barbieri, who has security experience in more than 20 countries, told FOX 4.

He added, “If you have a particular person, such as an athlete or a wealthy CEO, you can find almost everything you want to know about them online.”
