Boston officials hope that the early start time of this year's iconic South Boston St. Patrick's Day parade will take away “Tom Foolery.”
The 2-on-1 celebration – St. Patrick's Day and Evacuation Day Parade – is scheduled to kick off at 11:30am local time on Sunday, March 16th. This is an hour and a half before the past few years as politicians and parade organizers try to prevent bad behavior from the riverrs.
“The parade will start earlier this year to help Tom Fourley get a better handle,” Sen. Nick Collins said in a statement to the Dorchester Reporter's local outlet. “Last year, there was a sad moment at the parade where I didn't want to see this repetition.”

“We'll be working under Golden Rules. If you don't get home, don't do it here,” Flynn, a retired US Navy veteran who served during the unbearable duties of freedom, told Fox News Digital.
At a press conference Wednesday, Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox shared a similar message.

“We ask anyone who comes to treat this event and the neighborhood as if it were your home,” Cox said. “Boston is a welcoming city, but in reality it doesn't welcome unruly illegal activities.”

“This is a family-friendly event. It's not a drinking festival,” Cox continued.
Cox said all liquor stores in South Boston will close at 4pm, taverns and restaurants will be suspended for people at 6pm and will stop serving alcohol at 7pm

Cox warned parents that their children and teens should be accompanied or not attended at all.
“It's not Mardi Gras and it's not intended to be that way,” Boston EMS chief James Hooley said at a press conference.

St. Patrick's Day Parade in South Boston is one of the largest parades in the United States. Last year's parade attracted around 1 million people.
Fourley said the parade was “not that happy last year,” particularly driven by “young people who are generally drunk and the fights associated with it.”

According to local outlet Boston 25 News, multiple people were arrested at last year's parade. The issues include obstructing violence, assault It's gone viral, People on rooftops without roof decks, and beer cans being thrown at parade marchers, the outlet reported.

“If you're a guest, or if you're South Boston for the evacuation day parade – we'll show you the respect of residents and respect for the sake of veterans and military families, dedicated first responders, and our history,” Flynn said.
The parade is also a celebration of evacuation day. This was the evacuation of British forces from Boston on March 17, 1776.
