Boy’s Call Leads to Discovery of Stabbing Incident
A call made by a young boy in South Carolina to his grandmother about being hungry has uncovered a disturbing situation. Authorities found that his mother had allegedly attacked him and his younger sibling, stabbing them multiple times and causing serious injuries.
Taylor Gosnell, 35, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder following the incident involving her children, aged 6 and 3. This occurred at their home in Spartanburg County during the night before the children were discovered on Saturday.
The 6-year-old boy reached out to his grandmother on September 26, informing her that their mother was absent and that he and his younger sibling were hungry. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, this prompted the grandmother to seek help.
Upon hearing the boy’s concerns, she contacted a friend of Gosnell’s and together they went to the family’s home. They found both children, who were clearly in distress, and immediately called 911.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after 2:30 p.m. to find the home in a chaotic state, with many items either damaged or broken.
Investigators later reported that the children had sustained approximately 50 stab wounds combined, with some injuries deep enough to reach the bone. They were first taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in Greenville for further treatment; doctors expected them to require additional surgeries.
Warrants reviewed by authorities indicate that Gosnell used both a baseball bat and a circular knife during the attack, causing serious harm with an implied intent to kill.
Interestingly, Gosnell returned to the scene while deputies were still present. They decided to take her to the nearby medical center for evaluation due to concerning behavior observed. According to reports, she attempted to flee from the ambulance and needed restraints for safety. She was released from the hospital shortly after being cleared medically.
When authorities attempted to question her, she invoked her right to an attorney, halting any further discussions for the time being.
Gosnell was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Facility just before midnight on September 26, with no bond being set for her attempted murder charges. Additionally, she faces two counts for possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, as detailed in the new warrants obtained by investigators.
The children have been placed into protective custody while they continue their treatment and recovery in the hospital. The investigation is ongoing, and more updates may follow as details emerge.
