Spencer Pratt Critiques California Leadership Amid Mayoral Candidacy

Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Spencer Pratt has been vocal about his disdain for California’s leadership, targeting Governor Gavin Newsom, whom he labeled the “devil.” Pratt’s criticism stems from what he sees as failures in handling the catastrophic Palisades wildfires last year.

“He’s the devil. He’s literally from hell,” Pratt remarked in a passionate conversation with Anclar Media’s Janice Min.

The reality TV star, who gained fame on “The Hills,” expressed lingering frustrations with Newsom, particularly recalling how the governor was seen dining at the French Laundry while Pratt’s own business was shut down due to the pandemic.

“Newsom is a great reality star, but the reality is you’re responsible for everything that goes wrong,” he stated.

Pratt’s transition from reality TV fame to political aspirations has been fueled by personal experiences, notably the Pacific Palisades fire that damaged his home on January 7, 2025. He described waiting in vain for firefighters as flames approached his property.

“I didn’t hear a single fire truck or siren,” Pratt revealed, explaining that firefighters indicated no help was on the way.

Currently, Pratt is leading a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles and the Department of Water and Power, accusing them of negligence tied to water system failures during the wildfire. He criticized the decision to send helicopters to distant locations for water instead of addressing the immediate need onsite.

He just officially announced his candidacy on the anniversary of the fire and will face off against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in a bipartisan primary scheduled for June 2.

Pratt expressed disappointment at the lack of formidable challengers, saying, “I just kept waiting for someone to announce that they were going to run and run with the same energy that I had.” He has accused Bass of manipulating the post-fire report and mishandling issues surrounding homelessness.

“They say, ‘Let’s look to the future. Let’s move forward.’ No, no, no, no. No, we’re going back,” he asserted, highlighting the necessity of understanding past mistakes before making strides forward. He even mentioned maintaining a “blacklist” of officials he intends to dismiss immediately if elected, including some from the LAPD, Los Angeles Fire Department, and the Department of Water and Power.

While Pratt professes his love for Los Angeles, he lamented the decline of the Hollywood industry, remarking that shows like “The Hills” are no longer produced. “There’s going to be a show where Heidi and Spencer trip over fentanyl addicts on the street and step on human waste,” he quipped.
