Poll Shows Mayor Bass Leading in LA Council Runoff

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has increased her lead over City Councilwoman Nitya Raman in the upcoming City Council runoff election this November. A recent poll indicates that many voters who backed Spencer Pratt are now supporting Bass.

About 85 percent of Spencer Pratt’s supporters favor Bass over the Democratic Socialist candidate Raman.

From surveys conducted between July 30 and August 5, Bass is ahead of Raman by 50.2% to 38.4%. This marks an 11.8-point advantage for the mayor.

Additionally, 11.4% of the respondents are still undecided.

Opinion polling suggests that Bass is just over the 50% threshold needed for an outright win if these figures hold on election day.

A key factor to watch is how Pratt’s voters will align after his loss in the June primary.

A notable 85.2% of Pratt’s supporters are leaning toward Bass, while only 6.8% support Raman. The remaining 8% are undecided.

This survey reveals that a majority of Pratt’s voters view Bass as a more moderate candidate.

Bass shows a strong lead in South LA, where she is ahead 55.7% to 33.9% against Raman. She also maintains a solid advantage in the San Fernando Valley, leading 53.9% to 37.1%.

Raman, on the other hand, holds a slight upper hand in Eastside and Northeast LA, where she leads 45.8% to 44.6%. But in the Harbor/South Bay area, both candidates are tied at 38.8%, with undecided voters making up 22.4%, the highest percentage in the race.

Recently, Raman was removed from her committee position by the City Council’s Housing and Homelessness Committee, which voted 13-1 against her, citing concerns about her competence.

In light of this, the survey hints that voter turnout in November could differ greatly from the turnout in the June primary.

With a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points, the survey sampled 560 voters, including 64 who are still on the fence regarding their support for the mayoral candidates in November.
