NFL Regular Season Nears End: Fantasy Football Playoffs and Unique Punishments
With the NFL regular season wrapping up, it’s that time again for fantasy football playoffs and the inevitable punishments that come with it.
In a recent interview, former NFL defensive tackle Spice Adams shared his thoughts on one particularly intense punishment. “I heard about a challenge where you have to go to the bar when it opens and you can’t leave until it closes,” Adams explained. “I mean, can you imagine that?”
He then added, “And you’ve got to drink a beer every hour on the hour. Honestly, that would completely ruin me. The idea of being trapped there from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.—some places open that early—is just exhausting. It’s rough enough without being recorded the entire time, and that’s just part of it. It’s pretty risky!”
As an alternative, Adams suggested trying Red Baron’s Humble Pie, citing its spicy toppings—a mix of mozzarella cheese, ghost pepper flakes, and various hot spices. He noted how intense the experience was, saying he had to don goggles and gloves just to handle the heat. “You can’t mess around with Carolina Reaper sauce; you really have to be careful,” he mentioned, laughing about the absurdity. “It’s like a game, sort of, but it’s also way more than that.”
When discussing his own fantasy football season, Adams acknowledged it hasn’t gone well. “Yeah, my team is pretty much rotten this year,” he said, but he did point out that thanks to Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers, he might avoid the last place—meaning someone else might have to face the spicy “humble pie.”
Playing nine seasons in the NFL, Adams was drafted in 2003 by the San Francisco 49ers and later spent five seasons with the Chicago Bears. Over his career, he tallied 214 solo tackles and 10.5 sacks across 121 games. It’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about facing challenges, on and off the field.
