The Big Money Show panel delves into President Donald Trump’s tariff approach following Apple’s decision to shift much of its iPhone production away from China.
Spotify announced on Friday that it has authorized an app update aimed at changing how its Music Streaming Service displays pricing and purchasing information, following Apple’s directive that developers be allowed to connect with their customers.
A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that Apple had engaged in a “willful violation” of a previous injunction from 2021, which mandated that Apple stop restricting how app developers communicate pricing, subscriptions, and other details to users. This situation arose after a legal battle with Epic Games, the developer behind Fortnite, which aimed to prevent Apple from charging fees on purchases made outside its app.
In a statement, Spotify noted, “Amid a win for consumers, artists, creators, and writers, Apple has approved an update for Spotify’s US app.” The company emphasized that this change will ultimately enhance the ability to showcase clear pricing and enhance consumer choice and transparency in the US market.
With this update, Spotify will now have access to US-specific pricing details for subscriptions and promotional deals that can help users save money.
The company also pointed out that this change provides consumers with more competitive pricing, greater control, and enhanced access to the Spotify experience. There’s still work to be done, but this step marks a significant achievement for developers and entrepreneurs aiming to compete on a more level playing field, the company remarked.
The EU has a significant fine in store for Apple despite warnings from Trump.
“This represents the dawn of a new era, and we weren’t fully prepared,” Spotify added.

Users can now upgrade from a free account to one of Spotify’s premium plans directly from the app, choosing the subscription that suits them best. There’s also the option to modify premium subscriptions, like switching from individual to student, duo, or family plans.
Reports suggest Apple is developing a foldable, thin iPhone.
This update further allows Spotify to accept a variety of payment methods beyond Apple’s own system, giving users more flexibility.
Additionally, Spotify highlighted that this new update “unlocks new purchasing possibilities that will directly benefit creators,” like making it easier to buy audiobooks.

The company had made similar adjustments for European Apple device users the previous year, allowing the app to provide more information on different subscription choices.
Spotify has consistently criticized Apple’s App Store policies, stating, “A significant part of Apple’s anti-competitive practices has long been in place. This should be standard for doing business, not just in the US, but worldwide.”
