‘Squad’ member Jamaal Bowman mocks George Latimer for campaigning locally — while he’s fundraising with tech millionaires in California

Rep. Jamal Bowman (D-N.Y.) is walking alone in his congressional district while his opponent in the Democratic primary appears to be in San Francisco raising money from tech billionaires. He scoffed at the fact that he was pulling it.

In a social media post that has since been deleted, Bowman attacked his rival George Latimer after the election. The photo has been posted He is pictured campaigning outside Lenny’s Bagel Shop in Rye Brook.

“Saturday Morning Bagel Shop promotion has begun. Today: Lenny’s Bagels, Rye Brook, 8:15am. More to come. #RealResultsNotRhetoric #NY16,” Latimer posted on X.

Latimer, 70, who is currently Westchester County Executive, was seen grinning alone in front of a bagel shop at 8:15 a.m., holding a campaign sign.

Bowman echoes a post previously posted by Nathaniel Fielder saying, “He’s out on the town having the time of his life with a bunch of friends. They’re all laughing right out of the frame.”

But Bowman’s post came after one of his fellow San Francisco Bay billionaires, Hims & Hers telemedicine co-founder Andrew Dadham, posted a selfie he took with the congressman at his home in Frisco. This led to criticism.

“This man is family. He speaks truth to power, and that is always welcome in our home.
Thank you to the members of Congress who spoke up on behalf of so many people in need. @RepBowman,” Dudum said.

Bowman was seen making a sideways peace sign with Dudum and deleted Latimer’s tweet, but not before the politicians captured his screen.

Latimer’s campaign blasted the move, saying it showed Bowman was not focused on the district he represents, New York’s 16th District, which includes parts of the Bronx and Westchester.

“Bowman is stooping to the lowest level here, collecting checks from billionaires 3,000 miles away while George is actually running a grassroots campaign in the district,” Latimer’s campaign said in a statement. He is making condescending comments about the fact that

“Mr. Bowman’s disregard and contempt for voters in favor of donors explains why he has no support here, but we will remain proud grassroots supporters in his absence.” I’m happy to continue building the movement.”

Bowman’s campaign declined to comment.

The two-term progressive Democrat, who is part of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s leftist House “squad,” has encountered a series of political controversies in recent months.

Bowman, 47, was criticized by the Republican-led House of Representatives last year for setting off a fire alarm at a Capitol office building and delaying a vote to avert a government shutdown.

He also recently came under fire for defending his decision to include convicted cop killer Joanne Chesimard in the Bronx Middle School’s Hall of Fame while he was principal.

Chesimard was convicted along with two others in 1973 for the execution-style murder of New Jersey state police officer Werner Förster, before escaping from prison and fleeing to Cuba.

The president of the NYPD Detective Endowment Association on Monday called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to have the House discipline Bowman for defending Chesimard’s honor at Cornerstone Academy for Social Action.
