A stabbing incident in Louisiana on Saturday night resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, and a child is in critical condition, prompting law enforcement to search for a suspect with a history of violence.
Authorities from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to find several deceased victims in residences near the 200 block of Ashland Drive in Houma, Louisiana, where they also discovered a juvenile with stab wounds.
The unnamed child was quickly transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition, according to officials.
Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, has been named as a person of interest regarding this series of stabbings in the small town, located about 63 miles from New Orleans.
Solet has a record of multiple arrests over the past decade related to various stabbing incidents, including one that resulted in death, yet he hasn’t faced convictions in those cases.
In January 2019, he was charged with murdering Kemple Paul Scott Lovell, a homeless man discovered dead with multiple stab wounds. Solet was apprehended after an anonymous tip led police to find him hiding in a shed close to the scene of the most recent crime.
However, a grand jury ultimately chose not to indict him due to insufficient evidence at the time, which led the then First Assistant District Attorney to express agreement with their decision that more information was necessary for a thorough investigation.
Later, in December 2019, Solet faced charges for the attempted murder of a woman, Cindy Boudreaux, who was found in a pool of blood at the Red Carpet Inn in Houma. As paramedics worked on her, she desperately gasped, “don’t let me die.”
Boudreaux initially claimed her boyfriend had attacked her, but she later redirected her accusation towards Solet, who at that time stated he had been homeless and had only been with her the previous night.
Prosecutors cited security camera footage and DNA evidence found in Boudreaux’s hotel room as proof of his involvement. Despite these charges, Solet was acquitted of the attempted murder in November 2023, according to reports.
